FunKeys introduces music to our youngest musicians though sensory, experiential sessions full of music, movement and play. Children acquire early musical skills with an emphasis on exploration and musical discovery. These sessions are a valuable stepping stone into our Foundation programme and other musical experiences.

Jennifer Haworth, Head of Keys Foundation

The Funkeys Programme is for children aged from three years and teaches the initial skills involved in learning any instrument, including:

  • Finding and keeping a steady beat

  • Listening for high and low pitch

  • Reading simple rhythms

  • Understanding how music tells a story

  • Exploring musical elements such as tempo, articulation and dynamics

Children learn through songs, games and stories. They have access to the pianos in the studio, as well as the chance to play lots of percussion instruments. Emphasis is on exploration and music making in a fun environment.
